What is the dunnage bag

 

During the transit the cargo is subject to several forces. When the content of the truck / container / wagon is not 100% compact  and has empty spaces it is possible to  get a serious damage.

The dunnage bag is an airbag that is used to protect and stabilize the cargo, by filling in the  spaces between the packaging.

Strength levels and dimensions

 

Depending on the transportation mode and the cargo  INTERNATIONAL DUNNAGE offers five different levels of bags stretched:

 

  • Level I:     For road transports (0.207 bar - 3 PSI) 

  • Level II:   For sea / container  transports (0.276 bar -  4 PSI) 

  • Level III:  For  rail transports LIGHT CARGO (0.414 bar -  6 PSI)

  • Level IV:  For rail transports HEAVY CARGO (0.551 bar -  8 PSI)

  • Level  V:   For rail transports VERY HEAVY CARGO (0.689 bar -  10 PSI)

 

There are several dunnage bag dimesions.  Vrontos.com  keeps in stock the size 76 x 122 cm (Level II), which is the most common size for palletized cargo.
